Biles shared photos from their trip to Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 16, documenting their travels as they flew from the U.S. to South Africa. She began the series with pictures of herself and the Chicago Bears player surrounded by multiple giant suitcases as well as several adorable snaps from the airplane.

The 27-year-old gold medalist then shared a photo of herself and Owens clinking champagne flutes with a hotel suite in the background. “Made it to south africa,” she wrote across the image in pink lettering.

On Friday, the couple marked their second Valentine’s Day together since tying the knot almost two years ago.

The history-making Olympian and the football player first met through dating app Raya shortly before the pandemic in 2020, and got engaged in February of 2022. They tied the knot with two weddings, one in Houston in April 2023 and another in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the following month.

Following their Valentine’s Day celebrations, Simone took to Instagram and shared a sweet glimpse into them with fans.

She started off with a photo of her wearing a silky, baby pink dress and long braids, holding a large bouquet of massive white roses, followed by one of Jonathan wearing a colorful printed shirt.

The gymnast also included a photo of the roses laid down on a bed, plus a snap of Jonathan as the two enjoyed a lunch with mimosas, and lastly another photo of her holding the epic bouquet.

“Valentine’s day,” she simply wrote in her caption, and fans were then quick to take to the comments section under the post and gush over it, though first Jonathan himself wrote: “Had the most amazing day with you,” alongside a red heart emoji.

Others followed suit with: “You look stunning! I love your dress,” and: “You look so beautiful and wonderful!!!” as well as: “The hair, the dress, you look stunning,” plus another added: “You are so beautiful.”

It’s a special, lowkey time for Simone and Jonathan, who are both on a break from their respective sports.

Taking time in her speech to give words of advice to the younger generation of gymnasts, Biles, 27, told them to push forward despite obstacles.

 “No matter what life may throw at you along your journey, be the best person you can be, follow your passion, and put in the work, and you know that I see the gold within all of you,” Biles said to those in attendance, which also included long-time friend and former teammate Aly Raisman, who presented her with the honor.

Elsewhere in her acceptance speech, Biles shared loving words of thanks for her husband, Chicago Bears player Jonathan Owens, and noted the rise and increased spotlight on women’s sports in 2024.

On Thursday, Jan. 2, Biles was named by Sports Illustrated as the 2024 Sportsperson of the Year, following her record-breaking performance at the Paris Olympics that served as a redemption from her early exit in the Tokyo Games where she experienced the “twisties.”

In the interview for the feature, Biles hinted that her time as an Olympian may have come to an end.

“Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done,” the most decorated gymnast in history said of her chances competing with Team USA at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
