Serena Williams has hit back at the backlash she received following her appearance at the 2025 Super Bowl.

The tennis icon came under fire on social media earlier this month for her performance during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show.

Serena appeared on the side of the stage as Kendrick performed a version of his Grammy-winning Drake diss track Not Like Us.

Shortly after the event, the retired sports star was criticised for performing the Crip Walk dance during the show, a dance she was also slammed for performing to celebrate her victory at the 2012 London Olympics.

Serena was also accused by social media users of appearing to diss Drake, who she is widely believed to have dated in the past, by teaming up with his rap rival Kendrick amid their ongoing feud.

In response to the backlash, Serena’s husband Alexis Ohanian took to X to defend his wife, writing, “Some of y’all have no idea how criticised Serena was for this same dance at Wimbledon 13 years ago and it shows….This is bigger than the music.”

Serena has now taken to X a week later to respond to the criticism.

“That there my baby daddy and husband. Always got my back. I Love you,” the 43-year-old wrote on Monday. “Gosh I’m so late to the game (I’ve been sick) & busy investing in billion dollar companies and running @WYNbeauty… def not dancing to be petty lol.”

The sports star, who won 23 Grand Slams during her career, continued, “I think I proved 23 times over (not counting four gold medals) that I simply don’t have time for petty. All love and respect always nothing negative here.”

Let the waves hit your feet, it’s perhaps time for a bit of relaxation.

After a breathtaking performance at the Super Bowl LIX, Serena Williams was spotted performing her motherhood duties on the very next day. However, while trying to find a perfect balance between her jam-packed schedules and daily routines, the tennis legend finally found some time for relaxation as well. Recently, Serena Williams shared a few glimpses of her ‘girls trip’ on her IG handle. To put it short, she flaunted her mesmerizing style while relaxing under the sun.

Serena Williams stunned everyone when she came out crip walking to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like US; during the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Ever since that iconic performance, Williams received quite a lot of criticism for multiple reasons. However, she looked literally unfazed by all of that. The next day, she uploaded a video clip, where she was heard saying, “In between meetings, I ran, took Adira to the zoo, and then I’m gonna go back to the office. Just a day in the life.

That shows us, that even after almost three years of retirement, Serena Williams’ schedule is still very tight! Perhaps, she still has to follow that inspirational mantra that she once said while doing yoga, “I will Rest. I will Recover. I will Recharge. I will Repeat. I will enjoy some time for myself.” Talking about finding time for herself, on her girls’ trip, Serena was spotted slaying in a stunning bikini top while sitting beside a pool on a bright sunny day. A little splash of water on the feet can infuse a wholesome relaxing experience, isn’t it?

Along with her green and white designed attire, the fashion icon also donned a similar colored hairband along with a black sunglass. Serena was taking selfies as well, while the gentle waves of the water from the pool splashed onto her feet. She captioned that picture with, “Unfiltered untouched magic at magic hour #girlstrip.” Life after retirement seems great for Serena Williams, isn’t it?

Well, not only retirement but even the swimsuits and beachwear look great on this beautiful tennis diva! Last year, she posted a similar picture of herself jumping on the beach on a bright sunny day, wearing a black swimsuit. She had also uploaded another picture of herself with the turquoise blue water in the background and captioned that post with, “Them: Don’t start jumping to conclusions…Me:” Her fellow tennis star, Caroline Wozniacki showered love on the American, as she commented, “❤️🔥.

Serena Williams is a perfect example of how important it is to take time out for oneself and celebrate each moment of our lives. However, everything wasn’t always picture-perfect for her.

Being Serena Williams is certainly not easy! In 2018, she even admitted, “It’s been so hard balancing being a mom and starting my clothing line, as well as playing a professional sport!” Trying to find a balance between work and family life and then finding some time for oneself has always been a bit challenging for her, even after retirement. However, with time, Serena has started to ace all of these things.

The mother of two is now an inspiration to several working mothers. What does she think about taking care of herself amid all these daily routines? “Being ok to take time for myself is something I have always struggled with. I finally started being ok to take an hour (during nap time) away from my kids and work to do something for myself. I always feel guilty leaving them but I have to also remember taking care of myself, will only help me take better care of them, said Williams in a previous social media post.

Nowadays, even her husband, Alexis Ohanian feels a bit amazed by the way she handles all these things. He once said, “Something (Williams) is really good at is shutting it off and focusing on family time and personal time.” Not only that, Ohanian also believes, “My wife’s got like a switch in her brain where when she’s not on the clock, she is off, she is not thinking about tennis or business or fashion or anything. It’s date night or it’s Olympia time. It’s like it is off. I’m certain that is a muscle she’s had exercised her entire career.

Serena Williams, from the moment she started playing tennis until her retirement, lived a life centered around the sport.

Like any other professional athlete, if you want to be the best, you have to make certain sacrifices so that the effort pays off.

Now, Serena is a full-time mom and entrepreneur. She also makes epic Super Bowl appearances and stays incredibly busy in every possible way. That’s why a break was necessary, so she grabbed her bikinis and joined her friends for a few hours of relaxation in the sun.

The beach is the perfect escape for a well-earned break, and that’s exactly how Serena Williams chose to unwind-soaking up the sun in a bikini and embracing some well-deserved relaxation. But it wasn’t just her dreamy getaway that had fans talking-everyone couldn’t help but notice how incredibly toned and strong her arms look, proving she’s still in peak form.

Despite juggling multiple business ventures, Serena admits that taking time off isn’t easy for her. After years of a fast-paced, commitment-filled lifestyle, slowing down doesn’t come naturally. But as a true champion, she knows that rest is just as vital as training-because a strong body thrives on a balanced mind.

Even in her moments of relaxation, Serena carries that signature confidence and discipline that made her a legend on the court. Whether she’s dominating in business, spending quality time with her family, or just enjoying a little sunshine, she does it with the same energy and pa that defined her career. Fans love seeing this side of her, unfiltered, and still inspiring in every way.

And while she may not be chasing Grand Slam titles anymore, Serena is still setting an example. She’s proving that even the most driven, hardworking individuals deserve to hit pause and enjoy life. Whether it’s a beach day with friends or a quiet moment to recharge, she reminds us all that balance is key. Because at the end of the day, true greatness isn’t just about winning-it’s about knowing when to push forward and when to simply soak it all in.

Back in 2022 at the US Open, Serena Williams announced her retirement after over two decades of service to the sport. Leaving the tennis scene as one of the greatest players to have picked the racket, the American legend left a huge void to fill. Soon after her retirement, rumors even began to circulate about her U-turn on the retirement decision. While the 23-time Grand Slam champion has kept her fans guessing, it looks like she is gearing up for a return to the court, albeit in a different role.

Despite her retirement, Williams has kept her fans updated about her day-to-day activities through social media. While she is enjoying her holiday season, the American geared up to make a return to the court and shared some glimpses of it via her official Instagram handle.

Ticking all the boxes regarding her socks, ankle, and outfit, Williams got her looks on point to play Padel, one of America’s fastest-growing sports. Sporting a black top and neon green skirt, she complemented her looks perfectly with black shoes and white socks. Williams unearthed the memories from her playing days and hardly missed any shots while trying her hand at Padel. Be it the forehand or the backhand, all was as good as it was in early 2010s.IBM Knows What Makes Serena Williams So Good | WIRED

Interestingly, Williams has often endorsed Padel tennis since before her retirement. One of the fastest-growing sports in America, it is gaining massive popularity, and many renowned names have endorsed the sport, apart from Williams. Last year, Cristiano Ronaldo followed Williams in endorsing Padel tennis just hours after the US Open final. He made a massive investment of $5,360,0000 to boost its facilities in his home country, Portugal.

Serena Williams spoke for millions of disappointed Olympic fans as she pulled an anguished face during the opening ceremony.

The tennis star looked worse for wear as she rode down the River Seine on a high-speed boat as a torch bearer for the Paris games.

She was joined by Rafael Nadal, nine-time Olympic gold medallist Carl Lewis, and former Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci as they made their way through driving rain and choppy waters.

The boat was part of a four-hour ceremony centred around the French capital’s river and it was going so fast that Nadal fretted that the flame might go out.

Williams seemed to have been enjoying the ride as she waved to fans, but she suddenly gasped and needed to quickly grab onto Comancei to keep steady.

People watching footage of the four-time Olympic gold medallist commented that they thought she looked like she might be sick and that she looked like how people felt watching the controversial opening.

One person said online: ‘This is how the rest of us felt watching it.’

Someone else said online: ‘She hated it as much as everyone else!’

Another quipped: ‘She saw the rest of the opening ceremony.’

A social media user said: ‘Much of the audience felt sick, too.’

Another said: ‘What an embarrassment to France that opening ceremony was. The French people must be fuming.’

Another person added: ‘I thought Serena was going to be sick.’

And another person said: ‘Yeah the whole thing was sickening.’

The Paris Olympics opening ceremony has been slammed by critics who dubbed it the ‘worst ever’ with poor audio caused by the near-torrential rain and some joking online that organisers needed to ‘stop the boats’.

At one point, as the long line of boats filled with athletes made its way down the Seine, an embarrassing moment saw South Korea labelled North Korea by the announcers.

As the South Korean delegation sailed down the Seine River, they were introduced with the official name for North Korea: ‘Republique populaire democratique de Coree’ in French, then ‘Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’ in English.

The IOC said in a post on its official Korean-language X account: ‘We deeply apologise for the mistake that occurred when introducing the South Korean team during the broadcast of the opening ceremony.’
