Jake Paul has declared that he is retired from influencer boxing and that his former rival AnEsonGib is now the best in the world after the Brit’s recent victory

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has boldly declared AnEsonGib as the top influencer boxer in the world, attributing it to his own retirement from the sport. With an impressive professional record of 11-1, ‘The Problem Child’ has made a splash on the boxing scene since stepping into the ring four years ago.

The 27-year-old boasts victories over big names like Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, and Ben Askren. In his latest bout, he claimed a unanimous decision win against former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson.

Post-fight, Paul confessed that despite their heated exchanges before the match, he had no desire to knock out Tyson once he realized the boxing legend was struggling due to his age. “I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt,” he reflected.

“There was a point where he (Tyson) was not engaging back, I could just tell his age was showing a little bit. That violence war thing… that went away as the rounds went on.

“People just love to hate me. I intentionally say things for people to hate. That’s what I like to do. If people want to see more… give me a couple of months. I tried to give the best fight I possibly could. When someone’s just surviving in the ring, it’s hard to make it exciting. I don’t care what people have to say. It is what it is.”

Before he became a household name in the boxing world, ‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul had already thrown punches against fellow influencer boxers. He first stepped into the ring for an exhibition match against Deji in 2018 and then made his professional debut against social media personality AnEsonGib four years prior.

After securing a victory by stoppage over Gib, Paul faced off with former NBA star Nate Robinson, knocking him out in the second round. Since those early days, Paul has squared off against several prominent figures in combat sports, aiming to make his mark in the boxing ring.

Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions recently announced that ‘The Problem Child’ has hung up his gloves in the influencer boxing realm, passing the torch to his one-time adversary, Gib. “Flashback Friday to when Jake Paul was an influencer boxer,” MVP reminisced on Instagram.

Social media star Jake Paul defeated legendary boxer Mike Tyson via unanimous decision late Friday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in one of the most improbable matchups in the sport’s history.

All three judges ruled the fight in favor of Paul, with scores of 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.

The win improves Paul’s professional record to 11-1 while dropping Tyson to 50-7.

“He’s exactly what I thought, one of the greatest to ever do it,” Paul said after the fight.

Tyson was asked if he was officially done boxing. He said he wasn’t sure.

“I don’t think so,” Tyson said on the broadcast. “Maybe the brother (Logan Paul).”

Paul, 27, a social media star with more than 27 million Instagram followers and nearly 21 million YouTube subscribers, cruised in the bout.

After a first round that saw Tyson aggressive, his age caught up to him. Tyson appeared slow for most of the fight and barely landed any significant punches. His offensive output dropped considerably from the mid-rounds on. The much younger Paul peppered his opponent with jabs and hooks throughout the bout while taking little damage.

Paul was asked after the fight who he wants next.

“Anyone I want,” Paul said. “Everyone is next on the list.”

Paul made his professional debut in 2020. He has wins that include former UFC stars Ben Askren, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz and Mike Perry. His lone loss is a split decision last year against boxer Tommy Fury, the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Tyson, 58, is known as one of the best — and most intimidating — boxers ever. He opened his professional career with 19 straight finishes, 12 of which came in the first round. He later knocked out Trevor Berbick at the age of 20 to become the youngest heavyweight champion ever. Tyson reigned over the division from 1987 to 1990, claiming and retaining the WBA, WBC, and IBF belts en route to a 37-0 start.

His first career loss was a 10th-round knockout defeat to Buster Douglas in 1990 in what is considered the greatest upset in boxing history.

Tyson returned to the ring 20 times since that defeat, going 13-5 with two “no contests.” He has not competed since losing to Kevin McBride in 2005. He was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011.

In the co-main event, Katie Taylor defeated Amanda Serrano via unanimous decision (95-94 on all three judges cards). The bout, a rematch from their epic first meeting, was another instant classic that saw 324 landed punches.

Though the card had great fights throughout, fans online complained about constant buffering issues for the stream.

Mike Tyson has taken a swipe at Deontay Wilder for negative comments made about his upcoming fight with Jake Paul. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is one of many big names in the sport of boxing to take issue with the November bout at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. However, Wilder’s criticism appears to have genuinely bothered Tyson.

In comments made earlier this year, the 38-year-old claimed the heavyweight legend could “end up in a coma” as a result of taking a fight with a man 31 years his junior, while questioning whether anyone around Tyson “gave a f***” about him. Wilder reasoned: “I don’t think anyone cares about Mike, because if they did, they wouldn’t sanction the fight.

“They may say they’ve done tests and all that, okay, but as long as you’re willing to suffer the consequences if something bad goes wrong.” When Wilder’s words were put to Tyson in a recent interview with Esquire, the New York-born veteran launched an explosive rant in the direction of the former WBC Heavyweight Champion.
