Claressa Shields made history in her hometown of Flint.

The “GWOAT” defeated Danielle Perkins by unanimous decision to become boxing’s first-ever women’s undisputed heavyweight champion. She also earned the accolade of being the only three-division undisputed champion, male or female, of the four-belt era.

Shields (16-0, 3 KOs) is known for her strong jab, but that was nonexistent on Sunday night at the Dort Financial Center in Flint, Michigan. She explained in her post-fight interview that she was unable to use her jab because she tore a labrum in her left shoulder just nine days prior to fight night.

Shields, Uncrowned’s No. 1 pound-for-pound women’s boxer in the world, instead focused her efforts on landing the straight right hand and overhand right on the southpaw Perkins, which she did consistently throughout the fight. She hurt Perkins for the first time in Round 3 with an overhand right and almost secured an early knockout, but Perkins managed to stand up to the assault that followed.Claressa Shields next fight: Danielle Perkins set for Feb. 2 - Bad Left Hook

In Round 7, a straight right hand buzzed Perkins heavily, and Shields once again looked for a finish that didn’t come. To her credit, Perkins became more aggressive in the final three rounds, looking to get her own work off on Shields.

With around 10 seconds to go in the 10th and final round, Perkins threw a slow left hand, which Shields slipped and countered with a sharp right, flooring Perkins. There wasn’t any time left for Shields to look for the finish as the final bell rang just after the referee signaled for the action to resume.

Shields was awarded every round on one scorecard, 100-89, nine rounds on a second scorecard, 99-90, and seven rounds on the third card, 97-92. She said in her post-fight interview that she wished to box two more times in 2025, naming a list of potential opponents, which included Franchon Crews-Dezurn, Hanna Gabriels, Savannah Marshall, MMA legend Cris Cyborg and retired trailblazer Laila Ali.

Anthony Joshua has not fought since September and may be out of the ring for a year all in.

The British two-time world heavyweight champion suffered his fourth loss in his last ring outing. It came in his attempt to become a three-time belt holder against Daniel Dubois, but he was stopped inside five rounds.

The well-ranked 35-year-old is now towards the end of his career having competed at the top for more than a decade. Initially, he was keen to take an immediate rematch with Dubois, but small ‘niggling’ injuries put paid to that and instead, he has sat out the last few months, maybe hoping for a titanic battle with long-time rival Tyson Fury.

However, after Fury was beaten on points, twice, in back-to-back fights with Oleksandr Usyk, which is what also happened to Joshua in 2021 and 2022, he announced his retirement which means that fight is off the table, for now at least. ‘AJ’s team hoped an early summer return fight with Dubois could still happen, but had also looked at other top contenders including Deontay Wilder, Agit Kabayel and Joseph Parker.Undefeated Heavyweight Willing To Put His Title On The Line Against Anthony Joshua Next - Seconds Out

Speaking to Ring Magazine, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has now revealed that his charge has a new injury and is now faced with pushing back his return date.

“The top half of his body, I’ll give you that. It’s nothing major, but it means he’s been returning to training but he’s not quite ready to return to camp. He needs about another eight weeks until he can punch properly so you’re looking at April, May [for training] so that leads you to the back end of summer [for a fight date.]”

Many will hope that with the extra lay-off for Joshua, Fury may reverse his retirement decision and the two Brits can finally get it on. In the meantime, the wheels of the heavyweight division will continue to turn. Parker has been ordered to face unified champion Usyk, however the Ukrainian remains targetting an undisputed showdown with Dubois.

It’s no secret that Gervonta Davis is the poster child for boxing. He is long considered the best of his generation, but that image came crashing down on March 1 in New York. ‘The Reaper’ defied all odds to not only take ‘Tank’ Davis to his limits but also, according to many, win the fight. But in reality, the fight had come to a majority draw, a first for Davis. Nobody in the previous 30 fights had managed to expose the holes in Davis’ armor.

This perhaps made him overlook Roach Jr. Nevertheless, the fight saw the 30-year-old perform his career worst. Davis’ fall signaled Roach Jr.’s rise in the sport. While the Washington native was known around serious boxing circles, to the wider public, he was just another fighter. That perception changed after the Davis fight, as he became the man who brought the powerful Gervonta Davis to his knees.

Remember how ‘Tank’ took a knee in the ninth round and then walked to his corner to wipe his face? Well, referee Steve Willis didn’t call the knee a knockdown, and he didn’t penalize the boxer. This was one of the biggest reasons why fans felt Roach should have won the fight instead of it going to a draw. But not all went in vain. His social media following skyrocketed, and fans and experts alike acknowledged his skills.

However, those aren’t the only things that have changed since the fight for Roach Jr. As per his own admission, “Bro, literally, overnight [everything] changed. I gotta walk around with security. I walk around with my people… like it’s crazy. I can’t do the same stuff that I used to do. I can’t go to the grocery store. I can’t go nowhere, bro. I can’t do [anything] and it’s crazy. It’s just crazy,”Devastating Verdict: Gervonta Davis Beats Lamont Roach By Unanimous Decision

“I know that that’s what this come with if I get to the level that I’m supposed to be. But when it really happened to you, like you sit back and look at it like, ‘Damn like this really happened off of this one performance. I’ve been working my a– off my whole life, but after this one performance my whole life changed.”

While Lamont Roach Jr. is enjoying the fruits of his labor, he has also revealed what’s stopping a rematch from happening.

Lamont Roach Jr. implies that Gervonta Davis’ side is slowing down the rematch

Since the controversial ending to the first fight earlier this month, fans are talking about a rematch between the two boxers. They want to see who can ultimately win. Unlike the first time, there’s quite the excitement and anticipation surrounding the bout. Despite that, no official word on the rematch has come to light.

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix previously tweeted about it: “A Tank-Roach rematch could happen as early as June 21st in Las Vegas, sources told @SInow. Both sides now committed to running it back.”

Lamont Roach came extremely close to defeating lightweight superstar Gervonta Davis earlier this month.

The 29-year-old from Washington, D.C. challenged the WBA lightweight champion on March 1, putting on a career best performance only for the fight to be declared a split draw after 12 competitive rounds at the Barclays Center in New York.

‘Tank’ Davis sensationally took a knee during the ninth round of the contest, however this was not actually ruled to be a knockdown by Steve Willis, much to the disappointment of Roach and his team, who have spoken profusely about this incident and even sought to have the result changed – a petition denied by the New York State Athletic Commission.

It is expected that a rematch between the pair will take place at some point this summer, although an official announcement is yet to be made.Gervonta Davis vs Shakur Stevenson - Former Gennadiy Golovkin trainer has his say on huge bout | DAZN News GB

Speaking on the It Is What It Is podcast, Roach said he had signed for the second fight and was asked to give an honest assessment of Davis’ infamous punching power. In response, he recalled that he asked himself, “that’s all he got?” when in the ring.

“Not necessarily, but I do understand why he knocked people out. He very accurate, that’s what he do. So when he hit me like flush, when he punched me in my face I was like ‘oh that’s all he got?’, because he tried to punch me hard.”

Roach was just the third man to go the distance with ‘Tank’, who has 28 knockouts from 31 fights.

Roach’s impressive performance against Tank has got the boxing world talking, with many fans and pundits believing that the former WBA super featherweight champion had done more than enough to get the nod.

The 29-year-old will have his sights on going one better in the rematch, by becoming the first fighter to defeat Davis and proving that the events of their first encounter were not a fluke.

The world first found out about Papoose and Claressa Shields’ romance last year, when Remy Ma put the rapper on blast.

Papoose and Claressa Shields’ relationship appears to be doing better than ever, despite whatever critics may have to say about it. Earlier today, the rapper took to social media to show his new boo some love in honor of her birthday. He had nothing but nice things to say about the pro boxer in his heartfelt caption, making it clear that he’s head over heels for her.

Special Happy born day to my champion @claressashields A great person who’s always smiling/happy. Until you piss her off. Love you baby!!” he wrote. Papoose & Claressa Shields

While Pap and Shields appear to be living their best lives together these days, news of their relationship did erupt in a fairly dramatic fashion. In December of last year, the performer’s estranged wife Remy Ma took to social media to put him on blast. She unveiled some text messages he and Shields exchanged, accusing him of cheating on her. In response, Papoose brought up rumors that she was cheating on him with another battle rapper, Eazy The Block Captain. Shields ended up getting involved in the heated back and forth, even challenging Remy to a boxing match.

Fortunately, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon. While Pap and Shields continue to flaunt their love online, it appears that Remy has embraced her own romance with Eazy. In January, he even went off on haters during a livestream, insisting they’re simply “jealous” of his life.

Boxing great Muhammad Ali once had his say on a fantasy fight against Mike Tyson.

Best known by his alias ‘The Greatest’, Ali’s incredible legacy lives on in the present day having enjoyed a glittering professional career which lasted just over 20-years.

His crowning moment came in February 1964 when he defeated Sonny Liston via 6th-round stoppage to capture the world heavyweight championship for the first time in his tenure.

Ali successfully defended his crown 11 times, including a rematch victory over Liston, as well as wins against the likes of Floyd Patterson and Henry Cooper. ‘The Greatest’ suffered his first career defeat against Joe Frazier when they fought in March 1971, although he would go on to get revenge over ‘Smokin Joe’ in their second and third contests in 1974 and 1975.Jake Paul vs. Mike

One fighter who burst onto the scene after Ali had retired from the sport is ‘Iron’ Mike, with many fans and pundits left wondering over the years what would have happened if the heavyweight icons had locked horns.

In a resurfaced interview on YouTube, Ali was asked to give an honest opinion of ‘Iron’ Mike.

“Awesome. He’s powerful and he’s strong. He’s got a big punch. If he hits you, you’re in trouble.”

He was then asked to predict the outcome of a fantasy fight between the pair and backed himself to finish the fight in the tenth round.

“Stick and move. Hit and run. Tire him out. After about round 10, move in.”

Tyson made a sensational return to boxing last November when he fought YouTube sensation turned professional fighter Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Texas. At 58-years-old, ‘Iron’ Mike was quite clearly past his formidable best, as he fell short to ‘The Problem Child’ over eight controversial rounds in his first professional outing in just under 20-years.

Recent announcements about a Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. rematch has the boxing community at odds.

After one of the more controversial boxing matches in recent memory took place between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. on March 1, the entire boxing community was clamoring to see these two face off again so that the first fight’s majority draw decision could be put in the rearview.

It quickly became clear that both sides were looking to get a rematch together. And an X post from Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix confirmed this by writing

Now that a date and location for Davis vs. Roach 2 is seemingly being finalized, there has been social media debate from fans about which of these world-class boxers will emerge victorious in the second showdown.Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach

Some fans are siding with Roach. One example of this is with X user , who posted two photos from the first fight and wrote, “Roach is beating dat *** again mane 😤🦾”.

Another fan posted a gif of a cockroach wielding a lightsaber, an indication that they’re favoring Roach.

Other fans are siding with Davis for the rematch. In one example, a fan who wrote, “I thought roach won the first 115-113, but I think tank will make adjustments and win the rematch.”

“Tank, I think Roach will be very competitive but Tank will KO him in the later rounds,” added another.

Oscar De La Hoya achieved it all in boxing, and his talent became as clear as day when he poleaxed Floyd Mayweather’s uncle.

The Mexican-American is considered one of the most talented technical boxers to have ever graced the ring having won 11 world titles in six weight classes during his professional career.

The legendary champion touched gloves with some of the very best at the craft including Manny Pacquiao, Julio Cesar Chavez and Mayweather.

He came through to the professional ranks as a seriously talented prospect having won a gold medal for Team USA at the 1992 Olympic Games.

De La Hoya put together a four-fight win streak before coming up against a familiar face in Jeff Mayweather.

Mayweather was to become part of a legendary boxing dynasty which contains his 50-0 nephew Floyd.

But in his own career, he had a shared opponents with his nephew in De La Hoya against whom he fared significantly worse.Floyd Mayweather

Mayweather found himself on the back foot, but he was managing to keep him at bay largely despite taking some big shots.

But things took a sharp turn for the worse in the fourth round as De La Hoya upped the ante with some punishing shots.

He clipped him with a right hand before following up with a booming left hook, a one-two combination which left Mayweather flat on his back.

Luckily for Mayweather he survived the count, but was quickly a victim to a huge onslaught.

De La Hoya then let his hands go with battering shots landing regularly to the defenceless head of Mayweather.

And he crashed into the ropes as more relentless shots beat his face to a pulp, before the referee stepped in. Floyd Mayweather

He waved off the contest and spared Mayweather more punishment.

It was a bad moment for the veteran, who went on a three-fight losing streak.

Mayweather became a fighting regular but he failed to spark any significant route towards the level that De La Hoya reached.

He retired in 1997 but has gone on to train several champions including nephew Floyd and Sultan Ibragimov.

De La Hoya went on to achieve huge things in the sport, fighting nine times that year and winning them all in dominant fashion.

The Olympic gymnast is married to Jonathan Owens

Simone Biles just proved she is the queen of style and celebration. The Olympic gymnastics champion marked her birthday in true Texan fashion, rocking a stunning cowgirl-inspired ensemble that perfectly balanced casual and chic.

As she posed with a heart-shaped cake that read “Twenty ATE,” the birthday girl radiated pure happiness, giving fans a glimpse into her fun-filled celebrations.

In the photos, Simone showcased her effortless sense of style, pairing a distressed white denim mini skirt with a cow-print strapless top that exuded western charm.

She completed the look with classic brown cowboy boots and a statement cowboy hat, embracing her Southern roots with confidence and flair.

Her long, honey-toned braids cascaded over her shoulders, perfectly complementing her glowing complexion. With her signature bright smile and infectious energy, she looked every bit the birthday star.Simone Biles

Adding a playful touch to the celebration, Simone held up her sleek black cake with gothic-style piping and bold white lettering, sticking out her tongue to reveal it had turned black from the icing.

Simone’s birthday comes on the heels of an exciting year both professionally and personally. In May 2023, she and her husband, Jonathan Owens, tied the knot in a lavish wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Their beachfront ceremony at the Umi Terrace of Nobu Los Cabos was nothing short of magical, with Simone dazzling in not one but four custom dresses by Galia Lahav.

“When I started dress shopping, I was like, if I get married, it has to be a Galia Lahav,” Simone revealed in an interview with Vogue. “Once I looked at the dresses, I was like, this is definitely my style. I like the sheer, I like how it fits, and then the little pearl details—I love the pearls. If there’s something else I wanted at my wedding, it’s flowers and pearls.”

Her ceremony gown was a breathtaking ballgown with a sheer corset bodice, flowing box-pleated skirt, and 3D floral lace appliqué, complete with a high leg slit that she admitted was “crucial” to elongating her petite frame. While she initially had reservations about wearing a ballgown, she ultimately went with her gut feeling and chose the dress she felt the most beautiful in.
