Anthony Joshua gave an intriguing reply when asked about his future in the ring while attending the light heavyweight title fight between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev.

Joshua, 35, made the comments in an interview while was sitting ringside for The Last Crescendo in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.

Bivol’s victory over Beterbiev came courtesy of a majority points decision, with the judges scoring the bout 114-114, 116-112 and 115-113 in favour of Bivol.

His win also means he claims the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF titles as the undisputed champion in his division – avenging his loss to the same opponent back in October.

Prior to the fight, Joshua was asked about his own return to action, having not featured since his loss to Daniel Dubois in the world heavyweight title fight at Wembley last autumn.

When questioned on his future, Joshua said: ‘More fights, this is my life, this is what I do. Right now I sit outside and I watch and then I’ll make my return one day.

‘I sit back as a fan and watch the great people in the sport I love.’

His comments come after Joshua was reportedly not considered as a late replacement option for Dubois – who pulled out of his scheduled undercard fight with Joseph Parker due to illness.

While Joshua’s boxing future remains unclear, speculation has increased over his potential retirement from the sport.

This week, promoter Eddie Hearn said he believes that the heavyweight will contest ‘two fights, three fights max’.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Hearn said: ‘The plan and the goal for Anthony Joshua, always, from now to the moment he retires, is to try and win the world heavyweight championship. To try and become a three-time world heavyweight champion.

He added: ‘So, of course, the other fight, which we know at the moment is not available, is Tyson Fury, he wanted that fight.

‘But, if you said to AJ, “what do you want to do most next?” He would say, “I want to fight the winner of Dubois/Parker. I want another shot at a World Heavyweight title.”‘

As a result of the Parker vs Dubois fight not taking place due to the latter’s absence, Parker will have to wat for his chance to become a world champion again.

Anthony Joshua has given his immediate reaction to Joseph Parker stopping Martin Bakole in two rounds in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Bakole valiantly stepped in on two days’ notice to save the card’s co-main event when IBF Heavyweight World Champion Daniel Dubois took unwell.

Despite the lack of proper training camp, many in the sport backed Bakole to spring the upset due to his heavy hands. Parker was unfazed by the addition of a different big puncher in the opposite corner, and he was willing to trade with Bakole to prove it.

That paid off in round two when he landed an overhand right that shook Bakole and saw him stumble and fall off balance. Trainer Billy Nelson was quick to throw in the towel, seeing his man hurt and perhaps aware that the last minute travel had taken its toll.

Speaking on the DAZN broadcast, Joshua – who beat Parker to unify the heavyweight belts back in 2018 – had nothing but praise for his former rival and used his performance as an example as to how fortunes can turn.Joseph Parker

“I don’t just look at the fights that Parker’s had recently. The journey of Joseph Parker is one to be studied. How he’s risen to the top of the game, a slight setback – and in boxing you know how detrimental that is – and it takes a real man, a real man of courage and discipline, to come back and compete for the championship once again.

“He rose to the occasion. Credit to him and his team because he’s done an amazing job tonight.”

Parker said post-fight that he will fight anyone, and nobody will dare question that after beating three of the division’s biggest punchers in Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang and Bakole on the bounce.

Oleksandr Usyk has taken on all challenges across two weight divisions culminating in 24 rounds with Tyson Fury, though he says ‘The Gypsy King’ didn’t give him his toughest fight.

Usyk has been in unstoppable form almost all of his boxing career. He won plenty of amateur accolades and ended with a gold medal at the London Olympics in 2012. As soon as he turned pro, he soon picked up momentum in the cruiserweight division and, by 2018, had beaten become the undisputed champion.

He then moved up to the top division and soon settled in with wins over Chaz Witherspoon and Derek Chisora before taking on the long-ruling unified champion Anthony Joshua.

Usyk took a points victory then repeated the feat in the rematch. In August 2023 he took on his mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois and, after being down from a controversial low blow, he scored the stoppage win in the 9th round.

That set up an undisputed fight with the then-unbeaten Fury, who Usyk bettered on points after another tight 12 round contest.

Alongside Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue, that made him a historic two-weight undisputed champion. Last time out in December the Ukrainian southpaw again beat ‘The Gypsy King’ and sent him into retirement, for now at least.

However, he recently revealed to talkSPORT Boxing that it was in fact ‘Del Boy’ who gave him his hardest night.

“I think it is Derek. My friend Derek. Hey, Derek I am coming for you! Derek is a terrible guy, really tough. It’s just hard [fighting] Derek. He was just very difficult.”

Chisora’s 49th contest came earlier this month when he beat Otto Wallin by late KO. He is now looking for a 50th and final opponent later this year after a thrilling career with plenty of ups and downs. Though Usyk won their contest unanimously back in 2020, many have credited the Brit with laying the blueprint for the best way to get to the Ukrainian.

Usyk is now waiting around to once again challenge for undisputed honours against whoever wins the IBF title fight between Dubois and Joseph Parker. A callout from Chisora for a rematch in his 50th fight likely won’t come to anything.

Daniel Dubois has been in the ring with both Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua, and may be again soon.

The young Brit’s first world title tilt came against Usyk in August of 2023 after the Ukrainian had taken three of the four major belts from Joshua and defended them in a rematch.

Dubois tried to impose himself on the southpaw champion but was largely unsuccessful save for a moment in the fifth round when he would drop Usyk. It was immediately ruled a low blow and Usyk was given ample time to recover before getting back into his rhythm and scoring his first stoppage in three fights. Dubois was put down in both the eighth and ninth before failing to stand for the referee’s count.

While Usyk went on to become undisputed champion with a win over Tyson Fury, Dubois bounced back with wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic, fighting himself into a position to hold the interim IBF belt and subsequently the full title when Usyk vacated it.

His first defence came against Joshua at Wembley Stadium, and the 28-year-old would retain his strap with an assured and destructive performance that saw him drop ‘AJ’ three times before the fifth round stoppage. Joshua did land a few heavy shots of his own in an attempt to turn the tide, one of which Dubois says felt like a ‘bomb going off.’

Despite that, in a recent feature with the Ring Magazine ‘DDD’ said Tyson Fury, who he has only sparred, hits harder than Joshua and that Usyk hits harder than Fury. A surprising outcome given ‘AJ’ is known as the knockout puncher between the three.

Dubois puts his belt on the line against Joseph Parker this weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a win all but guaranteeing him a rematch with Usyk for the undisputed championship.

Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Anthony Joshua’s primary focus is reclaiming the heavyweight championship—regardless of who holds the title.

Joshua, who last fought in September 2024 when he suffered a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois, is determined to become a three-time world heavyweight champion. With Tyson Fury now retired, the long-anticipated all-British clash is no longer an option, shifting Anthony Joshua’s attention to the upcoming Dubois vs. Parker fight.

“Right now, because Tyson Fury is retired, the number one choice for AJ is to fight for the world heavyweight title,” Hearn told BetFred.

“That’s 99 per cent of what he wants to do. If that’s Daniel Dubois, no problem. If that’s Joseph Parker, no problem. If AJ decides that’s what he’s doing, then it’s done. Some people say he shouldn’t have fought Oleksandr Usyk. What are you talking about? It’s your job—he was the mandatory challenger. What do you want him to do? Give up his belt and get criticized for ducking Usyk?”Anthony Joshua

Joshua previously defeated Parker in 2018 and will closely watch the Dubois vs. Parker fight, as the winner could be his next opponent.

Despite recent criticism, Hearn has dismissed any talk of Joshua retiring.

“Not yet, but that time will come,” Hearn said. “Those conversations happen behind the scenes when a fighter is struggling in camp. If you no longer have it, it will become clear.

“Injuries will pile up, you’ll get hurt in sparring, and you won’t be as sharp. When that moment comes, the team will recognise it, and that’s when I’ll have that conversation with him.”

Anthony Joshua is to have one last shot at becoming a three-time world champion.

The British boxing star hasn’t held a title since 2021 when he lost three belts to Oleksandr Usyk, and then failed to win them back in the rematch a year later. He attempted to regain one of them in September last year when he fought IBF champion Daniel Dubois but was knocked out inside five rounds.

Right now, he is plotting his way back having not fought since, and Congolese heavyweight Martin Bakole is a name that has been mentioned often.

Speaking to iFL TV, his trainer Billy Nelson claimed they are ready to go but thinks it’s too much of a threat for ‘AJ’ to take it.

“Eddie [Hearn] probably doesn’t want it if the truth be told cause it’s a career-ending fight when Martin Bakole beats him.”

It was put to him that Hearn said Bakole, who stopped highly rated US contender Jared Anderson last time out, is not the second coming of George Foreman.

“Of course, he’s not the second coming, but what he will be, he’ll be the second man to stop Anthony Joshua if Anthony Joshua doesn’t have a fight in the interim.

“[Joshua] will have a warm-up fight probably March or April against whoever. [Deontay] Wilder is easy meat now. He’s finished, gun-shy, doesn’t carry a punch any more. He’ll get an easy fight, get a win and then I think he’ll fight Martin Bakole, ’cause it’s the biggest fight out there.”

Nelson then laid out a tentative plan, with his man winning his May IBF eliminator against Efe Ajagba for the mandatory slot for Dubois. He says that Joshua can have a shot at taking that position from Bakole.

“Everybody on our team wants the fight, ‘AJ’ wants the fight, Turki Alalshikh most importantly wants the fight. So let’s get the fight made after Anthony has his warm up fight, his confidence-boosting fight. We beat Efe Ajagba for the final eliminator then we’ll take Anthony Joshua for an interim fight before we fight for the world title. No problem.”

‘AJ’ has previously said that he would be interested in having the fight in Africa, and Hearn has said, should the be unable to land the Dubois fight or a long-awaited clash with Tyson Fury, Bakole is in the running.

The Brit is currently ranked seventh with the IBF and, while beating Bakole would not necessarily mean he would be called as mandatory immediately, it makes his case for a ‘DDD’ rematch undeniable.

Meanwhile, Dubois has a test of his own on his hands when he defends his belt against Joseph Parker this weekend. The winner will look to face Usyk in an undisputed contest.

Anthony Joshua is looking for a new opponent for his next fight after Tyson Fury announced his retirement from the sport last month.

The heavyweight titans looked destined to finally square off this year.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh was in the process of preparing a lucrative two-fight offer for the long-awaited all-British showdown.

However, those plans have now been put on hold following Fury’s bombshell announcement.

Joshua’s team have now shifted their attention to other avenues, with AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn setting his sights on a world title fight for his client.

“Right now because Tyson Fury is retired, so put him to the side, the number one choice for AJ is to fight for the world heavyweight title,” Hearn told BetFred.

“That’s 99 per cent of what he wants to do and if that’s Daniel Dubois, no problem. If that’s Joseph Parker, no problem.

“If AJ turns around and says that’s what he’s doing, then it’s done.

“It’s not me saying he can’t fight Daniel Dubois. Some people say he shouldn’t have fought Oleksandr Usyk. What are you talking about?

“It’s your job, he’s the mandatory, what do you want to do?

“Give your belt up and have all that criticism that you ducked Usyk and you vacated your belt to do it?”

Joshua, 35, rebounded well from his back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2020 and 2021 by winning his next four fights.

However, his winning streak came to a cruel, unforgiving end last September when he was flattened by Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium.

The devastating defeat prompted several members of the boxing fraternity to call for his retirement.

But Hearn played down the prospect of AJ hanging up his gloves just yet.

“Not yet, but there will come the time,” Hearn added.

“Those kinds of conversations really come from behind the scenes from how somebody is performing in camp.

“In camp, if you haven’t got it anymore, it’ll be apparent. The injuries will get worse, you’ll get hurt in sparring against somebody you shouldn’t be getting hurt against.

“You’re not sharp and when that moment comes, that’s when the team will say ‘AJ’s not looking good you know’ and that’s the moment when I will probably have a conversation with him.

“For the Daniel Dubois fight, the camp was great.

“He was super sharp and we were really confident going into that fight, coming off four good wins, two really good wins, and we thought he would win.

“We knew how dangerous the fight was, so he comes out, has a terrible start, never really recovers, comes back into the fight a little bit and gets chinned. No problem.

“If camp had gone really poorly and we were unsure, I think that conversation may have been brought forward.”

Ben Shalom has revealed that a blockbuster clash between Martin Bakole and Anthony Joshua is ‘done’.

Shalom was in attendance for Adam Azim’s victory over Sergey Lipinets on Saturday night at OVO Arena Wembley.

Azim record his best victory to date by blasting out the Russian inside nine rounds to claim the the vacant IBO super lightweight title.

During the event, Shalom spoke with boxing pundit Spencer Oliver to discuss the fight, but ended up revealing some tasty fight news for another one of his clients.

“The promoter of Martin Bakole that’s what I want to be known as,” he told Oliver.

“The number one heavyweight in the world.”Anthony Joshua explainer: Has AJ opened the door for Tyson Fury fight in 2023? | Boxing News | Sky Sports

Shalom proceeded to confirm that Bakole vs Joshua was a ‘done’ deal after the former asserted that he would fight AJ in Africa in the summer.

“It’s done. I’m hearing he’s signed and we’re off to the Congo,” Shalom said.

Joshua and Bakole, 31, have been naturally thrust into a potential showdown ever since Tyson Fury announced in January that he was retiring from the sport.

Bakole, who boasts a record of 21-1 with 16 KOs, is considered by many to be the ‘most avoided’ heavyweight in the division.

However, the Congolese knockout artist has yet to receive his flowers on the world stage in a big-name bout.

This comes despite Bakole locking horns with some of the best in the gym, including Daniel Dubois and current champion Oleksandr Usyk, who he claims he knocked out.Anthony Joshua Finally Reveals His Ambitious Two Part Comeback Plan: "That's The Goal" - Seconds Out

One fight Bakole has always had his eye on in the professional ranks is British star Joshua, 35, whom he sparred while ‘AJ’ trained in Sheffield.

“I think he’ll come [back], yeah. I think so,” he said. “There is a big fight waiting for him in Africa.

“Outside the ring I keep working hard because my fight against him in Africa is a big fight.

“I think it will happen in the Congo…we need to fight in the same stadium and I think it’s going to be in Congo.

Ben Rothwell is hoping to secure a fight with Anthony Joshua after his BKFC knockout went viral.

The 43-year-old secured the BKFC heavyweight title in brutal fashion at Knuckle Mania 5 on Saturday night.

Rothwell extended his bareknuckle boxing record to 4-0 with a 36-second knockout victory against Mick Terrill and earned $150,000.

However, ‘Big Ben’ has now revealed he is a free agent after his contract with the promotion came to an end.

Following four bareknuckle bouts, the former UFC fighter is now targeting a move to boxing with Joshua on his list of dream match-ups.

Asked about facing fellow ex-UFC heavyweight Francis Ngannou, Rothwell told The Ariel Helwani Show: “Right now I’m a free agent, I very much love the BKFC, I love David Feldman and I would like to continue, even finish my career here.

“How much time have I got? Maybe a year or so, it really depends. But Francis Ngannou, Anthony Joshua, guys who beat them guys.Anthony Joshua's boxing return date revealed - Businessday NG

“To put the gloves on and prove how good at boxing I am would very much be a bucket list.

“I just don’t feel like I’ve ever gotten to show the boxing world how good of a boxer I am.”

ANTHONY JOSHUA could be in line for a shock trilogy fight following Tyson Fury’s retirement.

The long overdue Battle of Britain seemingly went up in smoke earlier this month when the Fury announced his FIFTH retirement.

Team Joshua are currently exploring options for the Olympian, although they’re confident Fury can be coaxed out of his latest “retirement”.

But long-time rival Dillian Whyte is more than willing to be the Watford warrior’s next dance partner should the Gypsy King opt not to fight again.

The Brixton Bodysnatcher told  “[Joshua] Sounds perfect for me.

“They don’t need to ask me twice.anthony joshua Tyson Fury

“They talk about me as an option, but they haven’t said anything to me, so it’s just negotiation tactics from them.”

Whyte and Joshua have twice shared the ring with on another, with the first of their meetings coming the amateurs.

Whyte won the pair’s encounter back in 2009 via decision, although AJ brutally exacted his revenge six years later with seventh-round KO at the O2 Arena.

The pair, 36 and 35 respectively, were due to renew their rivalry in August 2023.

But their third encounter fell through when it emerged Whyte had failed a pre-fight drug test.Tyson fury Anthony Joshua
