“Get Kah back! Get Kah back!” Angel Reese didn’t hold back at a recent “Unrivaled” media event. Sitting next to Kahleah Copper, her former Chicago Sky teammate, Reese kept chanting for Copper to come back to Chicago. It was funny — until it wasn’t.

Reese has faced tampering accusations before — and it’s happening again. She’s not shy about trying to build a powerhouse in Chicago. Recruiting in the WNBA isn’t easy, and Reese’s push to stack the Sky’s roster isn’t sitting well with everyone.

Things heated up when Copper posted on X after the event, writing, “Angel starting trouble 🙂‍↔️.” Reese didn’t miss a beat, firing back with a not-so-subtle response: “💛🩵 you know where home is.” That’s when Dearica Hamby jumped in and called them out with a sharp, “Y’all tampering?”

But this goes beyond just Reese and Copper. The power dynamics in the WNBA are shifting fast. Players like Reese aren’t just making noise on the court — they’re starting to shape how teams are built. Recruiting isn’t just for coaches anymore. Players now have direct influence, and it’s changing the game.Angel Reese shows off revealing New Year's Eve outfit, deletes Instagram account | Fox News

At the “Unrivaled” event, Sabrina Ionescu and Satou Sabally also raised eyebrows when they were spotted hanging out. Fans immediately questioned if their reunion was just friendly or something more. Social media has blurred the lines even more. Players aren’t waiting for coaches to reach out — they’re sliding into DMs and making moves themselves. That’s exactly what Reese is doing. Her approach might not sit well with everyone, but it’s becoming part of the game.

And Copper isn’t Reese’s only target. Reese has also joked about trying to get Gabby Williams, a former WNBA champ, to join the Sky. Reese called it “just a joke,” but everyone knows she’s been a fan of Williams since her UConn days. Pulling in that kind of talent would make the Sky dangerous. Reese knows exactly what she’s doing — and she’s not afraid to use her connections to make it happen.

Reese’s playful personality makes this work. Just recently, she trolled Copper about learning spades from Hamby. Copper jumped into the conversation, only for Reese to hit her with the “grandma” joke again — a running gag since Copper refuses to join Reese’s TikToks. Their bond is clear, and Reese wants to keep that going in Chicago.

Reese isn’t just trying to win games — she’s working to build something special in Chicago. Tampering? Maybe. Hustling to put together a stacked squad? Definitely. The WNBA’s landscape is shifting, and Reese is leading the charge. The rules might need to catch up — because Reese isn’t slowing down.

Angel Reese and Copper: The Unstoppable Pair

Angel Reese and Kahleah Copper have become the unstoppable duo we didn’t know we needed. Both have played a massive role in Rose BC’s success during their first season in the “Unrivaled” League, making them one of the most dangerous pairings on and off the court.Vogue Is Taking Heat For Its Angel Reese Cover - The Spun

Copper has been a scoring machine for Rose BC. She’s the team’s second-best scorer behind Chelsea Gray, averaging 16.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists. Copper signed a two-year, $490,118 contract with the Chicago Sky at the end of the 2023 season. But in 2024, she got traded to the Phoenix Mercury, where her contract carried over. If the Mercury don’t extend her deal, Copper will hit free agency in 2026.

Reese has also been a force for the Rose. She just won the Unrivaled Defensive Player of the Year award on Saturday — no surprise there. Reese has lived up to her double-double reputation, averaging 13.3 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists across 14 games. Her defense and rebounding have made a huge impact, keeping the Rose competitive all season.

But now, the duo faces a tough stretch. Reese injured her wrist during the club’s final regular-season game and missed the entire postseason, including the Sunday night win over the Laces. With the WNBA season around the corner, Reese might sit out to focus on recovery.

Copper hasn’t played for Rose BC since February 7 due to a right leg injury. If both remain sidelined, the Rose will have to figure things out without two of their core stars.

Reese and Copper have shown they’re more than just teammates — they’re a duo that makes things happen. If they can get healthy and return to the court together, the Rose — and the WNBA — better watch out.

Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) star Angel Reese has said players could strike if the league doesn’t give them what they want in their next collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

The Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) opted out of the league’s CBA last October, stating that players are seeking a “business model that reflects their true value, encompassing higher salaries”, among other benefits, including possibly seeing a bigger chunk of league revenue.

A work stoppage has been mooted if a new CBA isn’t reached by the end of the 2025 season. The most recent agreement was due to expire in 2027.

Amid the potential for a protracted labour dispute, Reese has now said WNBA players could refuse to play in 2026 to ensure better CBA terms.

“I need to be in the [players’ union] meetings because I’m hearing that if [the league] don’t give us what we want, we’re sitting out,” said Reese, who was speaking on her Unapologetically Angel podcast.Angel Reese – LSU

WNBPA executive director Terri Carmichael Jackson subsequently said the union would not comment directly on Reese’s comments but it was committed to securing “a transformational deal”.

“As a union, we’re fully engaged in the CBA negotiation process with the league, and our focus remains on securing an agreement that reflects the value and contributions of our players,” said Jackson.

“Our members are passionate about the future of this league, and we’re proud to represent a group that’s united, dialled in, and pushing for a transformational deal that’s fair.

“We won’t comment on individual statements right now. Our priority is the work happening at the table. We’ll provide updates as we move forward together.”

Reese was one of the leading athletes in a standout draft class that helped take the WNBA to various viewership and attendance milestones in the 2024 season, including the league’s most-watched regular season in 24 years.Angel Reese sparks social media firestorm with threats of sitting out | Fox News

A study from Relo Metrics, meanwhile, found that the WNBA delivered a record US$136 million in media value for sponsors during the 2024 regular season. The league is also due to receive as much as US$2.2 billion over 11 years from the 2026 season as part of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) next domestic broadcast rights deals.

With Reese hearing from fellow players that a strike remains a firm possibility, further public comments from high-profile WNBA stars would ramp up the pressure on the league ahead of CBA talks. Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark has not spoken publicly on the matter but her agent Erin Kane said last month that she was hopeful of a “progressive” CBA negotiation.

“The most important thing always has been getting WNBA players paid for what they do on the court,” Kane told ESPN. “I’m very, very hopeful for this CBA negotiation that it will be progressive and move the line forward a lot.”

Unrivaled did bring a lot for Angel Reese—a lot of attention, an improved game, a mentor in Lisa Leslie, and, well, some unexpected friendships. And now, those friendships are bringing up some interesting stories from the past for us fans. Another one just dropped in the latest episode of Unapologetically Angel, and let’s just say it had a bit of a confession from Lexie Hull—one that also included Cameron Brink and DiJonai Carrington.

A few months ago, who would’ve thought that Reese and Carrington—who seemed like on-court rivals—would be experimenting with makeup together? Or that, Caitlin Clark’s teammate, Hull would be chatting about her Stanford days with Reese, going from teammates to full-on friends? But here we are.

And when Reese recently sat down with Carrington on her podcast, the conversation took an interesting turn. The Sky forward got straight to it, asking Carrington about her college experience. And in a way that only Angel Reese can, she had some thoughts about Stanford’s vibe.

“How was your college experience, though?” she asked. “Like, Stanford—that seems like you just go to school, you go home, and you go to basketball practice, then you go home.”Angel Reese – LSU

That’s when Reese dropped that Lexie had already told her what Stanford life was really about. “Lexi told me, like, you basically go there and find your sweetheart,” Reese said. “Cam found hers, Lex found hers…” The Wings star, though? “I didn’t find mine,” she admitted.

But she did find love later. After four years at Stanford, Carrington transferred to Baylor for her final year, where she met WNBA star NaLyssa Smith. The two have been dating since then. Meanwhile, Hull and Brink spent their whole collegiate careers at Stanford.

Hull, who graduated in 2022, met Will Matthiessen—a former player who now works as an analyst. As for Brink, she’s been with Ben Felter since 2021, and the couple just got engaged in September. Felter, also a Stanford alumnus, was a starboard on the Stanford Rowing Team.

But Stanford wasn’t just about finding love for these athletes. It was the foundation of their successful careers in the WNBA. Brink went pro with an NCAA championship, a Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award, and more accolades under her belt. Hull was at her peak in her senior year and it was the time when she received the maximum number of accoladesAngel Reese Scores Reese's Sponsorship, Sky Create 'Barbie Game Night'

Carrington helped Stanford win two Pac-12 tournament titles before making her own name in the W. And now, all three—Hull, Carrington, and Brink—are part of Unrivaled. Brink isn’t on the court just yet as she recovers from an ACL injury, but she’s still there, supporting her squad from the sidelines.

Carrington is with Breanna Stewart’s Mist, while Hull and Reese are out there hooping for Rose Club. And what we’ve seen from Angel Reese so far? Yes, we didn’t see that coming.
