Gervonta Davis Says Former World Champion Ruined His Legacy In Last Fight: “Why Did He Do It?”

Gervonta Davis is currently building his own legacy within boxing.

Having held world honours in three weight divisions, ‘Tank’ is now reaffirming himself as one of the best 135lb fighters in the world, and has been WBA lightweight champion for the past few years.

During that time he has beaten the likes of Ryan Garcia, Rolly Romero and Frank Martin, and returns in March to make his latest defence against Lamont Roach.

While Davis is going from strength to strength in his own career, there is one former world champion that he was less than impressed with recently.

In November, boxing legend Mike Tyson returned to the ring for the first time in nearly 20 years for a controversial battle against Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.Gervonta Davis

It was a fight that drew a lot of criticism within the sport, due to Tyson now being 58-years-old, and he looked a shadow of his former self as he suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Paul.

Davis has now given his take on the fight, telling Fight Hub TV that he wants to know who advised ‘Iron Mike’ to go ahead with the bout.

“Why did he even want to fight him? Who told Mike Tyson to fight anyway?”

‘Tank’ was then asked whether the fight ruined Tyson’s legacy.

“Yeah, it did. It definitely did.”

Tyson remains the youngest world heavyweight champion in history, and has confirmed that he will once again remain retired. As for Davis, he has revealed who he deems to be his ‘dream fight’ ahead of his shock announcement that he plans to retire himself this year.
